Slimline Card Fun - Christmas Style

Slimline cards...a fun new card in my card making world.  Have you ever made a slimline card?  I had no idea where to start and discovered that Pinterest too has all sorts of fun sketches! (Surprise! Surprise!)

Tammy and I decided it would be fun to try our hand at a slimline card for our Teach it Tuesday this week.  So we found a sketch through our favorite source Mojo Monday on Pinterest.   Here is the sketch we chose and below it you will find the measurements I used.

Card Details:

  • Card base:  9 1/4" x 7 1/2"  (scored at 3 3/4" along the 7 1/2" side)
  • Layer #1: 9" x 3 1/2" Pattern paper
  • Layer #2: 1" x 9" coordinating card stock
  • Layer #3: 9 1/2" piece of 1/2" wide ribbon (or you can use card stock)
  • Layers #4: 1 3/4" circle (need 3) Stylish Shapes dies
  • Layer #5: 1" x 3" card stock - long skinny banner die from Stylish Shapes

Both a stamp set, Gifts of Joy, and pattern paper, Traditions of Christmas, that I used for this card can be found in the upcoming September - December 2025 Mini Catalog.

Simple Stamping - Stamps, Ink & Paper

Sometimes it is fun to go back to the basics of card making, the SIP card.  SIP stands for Stamps Ink Paper.  Sometimes we think that we need all the extras to make a beautiful card. Don't get me wrong those extras are a LOT of fun to play with but if you are NEW to card making or want to just go back to the basics the SIP card is the way to go.

Today I am showing you how to use a stamp set, pattern paper and ink to create a beautiful Autumn card.  I will also be using a stamp set that isn't strictly Autumn themed but is versatile enough to be used for Spring & Summer.  This set is the Natural Botanical stamp set.  The Autumn themed pattern paper I am using is called Gathering Together (Item #165969) and will be available Wednesday, September 3rd as a part of the new September Online Exclusives.  The rest of the supplies will be listed below.

Card Details:

Card base: 11" x 4 1/4" scored at 5 1/2"
Layer #1: 4" x 5 1/4" (I stamped on pattern paper)
Layer #2: 3 1/2" x 1 1/4"
Layer #3: 3 1/4" x 1"
Interior: White Panel 4" x 5 1/4"

Happy Hibiscus and Happy Colors!

Don't you just love happy colors!?  I do and so many of Stampin' Up! colors can be considered happy colors but my friend Tammy & I discovered a very happy color combination; Strawberry Slush, Granny Apple Green & Cloud Cover! These three colors just scream "HAPPY"!

I had fun using the Happy Hibiscus embossing folder, which if you didn't know is on the Last Chance list.  That means it will no longer be available once it is sold out, so if you like this card and you love the embossed image the sooner you order the better.  By the way, this type of card can be made with any embossing folder if you don't have the Happy Hibiscus embossing folder.

This week has been a crazy week too for me.  I spent the past few days working along the side of my husband as we prepare our "new to us" 5th wheel so that we can take it on the road. Because I have been so busy I decided to go to my favorite resource for card ideas, you guess it, Pinterest!  I found a sketch I saved a long time ago from the Efficient Crafter.  This is the original sketch, and as you can see I didn't deviate from it this time.  There are times I like to tweak the sketch a bit. :)

Details for this card:

  • Card Base: 11" x 4 1/4" scored at 5 1/2"
  • Layer #1: 4 1/8" x 5 3/8"
  • Layer #2: 5 strips of card stock 4" x 1"
  • Layer #3: 2 1/8" x 3 1/8"
  • Layer #4: 2" x 3"
  • Interior: If you use a colored card stock you can put a white panel 4" x 5 1/4"

Celebratory Sips Simply Said!

Celebratory Sips! What a fun pattern paper, I know it has been around for a New York minute, but I am just now playing with the "sip" side of the paper.  All because this month, August 5th - 31st, 2025 Stampin' Up! is having a 2025-2027 In-Color sale.  There is so much to choose from I decided to use Celebratory Sips pattern paper. This DSP includes all 5 of the newest In Colors; Cloud Cover, Darling Duckling, Secret Sea, Strawberry Slush & Timid Tiger.

As you will see in my video I used four of the five In Colors, my friend and Teach it Tuesday partner Tammy used the the fifth color.  Funny thing is we did NOT plan that.  LOL We have found that we tend to work like that.

Here is a simple but fun card to create and the best thing is that any pattern paper, sentiment and colors will work with this layout.  The layout was inspired by my Luv 2 Stamp group's sketch challenge for August.   I hope you enjoy it and watch for some tips for the Cloud Cover ink.

Card Details:

  • Card Base:  8 1/2" x 5 1/2" scored at 4 1/4"
  • Layer #1: Basic White 4" x 5 1/4" (embossed left side)
  • Layers #2 & #3: 1 1/4" x 4" (both pieces of coordinating pattern paper)
  • Layer #4: Image (fussy cut or die cut)
  • Layer #5: White 2 1/4" x 1 1/2" for die cut
  • Interior: Pattern Paper 5 1/4" x 4" & Basic White 5" x 3 3/4"
