Pop Out Fun Fold!

Fun times with fun fold cards!  Yesterday my friend Tammy and I hosted our Teach it Tuesday, the theme was fun folds.  She made a fabulous Halloween card, the video is linked below.  Since I don't do a lot of fun folds I perused my favorite spot for ideas, Pinterest!  I found a fun one by Karen Titus of Stamping on the Back Porch, it is called the Pop Out fun fold.  I had so much fun that I made 2 to share as samples and made one during my Facebook live.  It is much simpler than it looks, my kind of card!

Here is the card I made yesterday in the video.  I have provided all the details for the card I made on the video.

Details:

  • Card Base: 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" (scored at 4 1/4")
  • Layer #1: 4" x 5 1/4"
  • Layer #2:  3 1/4" x 4" (used to die cut out the center piece)
  • Interior: White card stock 8" x 5 1/4" scored at 4" & 2")  &  Pattern paper  1 7/8" x 3 7/8"

Masculine Mojo! Sketch Challenge

I love using sketches they are great for those time that I need a quick card idea or I just am not feeling very creative.  Tammy & I enjoy using sketches to challenge us for our Teach it Tuesday lives too.  This week we used Mojo Sketch 521 for our challenge.  I challenged myself even more by deciding I would use the Timeless Plaid pattern paper and make a masculine card.

I hope you enjoy this sketch challenge because I know I did.  I loved having it push me outside my comfort zone of blues, flowers, etc.

Card details:

Card base: 11" x 4 1/4" scored at 5 1/2"
Layer #1: Patter paper 2 1/8" x 2 3/4" Nested Essential Rounded Rectangle Die
Layer #2: 5/8" x 5" coordinating card stock embossed
Layer #3: 2 1/2" circle from Stylish Shapes
Interior: Coordinating card stock 4" x 5 1/4" and lighter color 3 3/4" x 5"

Check out the video below for tips and tricks for adding dimension to a plain card base.

Triple Time Baby Card!

If you are looking for a fun twist on layering your cards then the Triple Time stamping technique is just what you need!  You can use it for any type of card including birthday, thank you, and sympathy.  However, today I used it to create a fun baby card!  It is also a great way to showcase a background stamp, you know those stamps that measure approximately 5" x 6".  Tammy & I chose this as our focus for our Teach it Tuesday this week.

This week's homemade baby cards used both the Painted Stripes stamp set & the Cutest Onesie bundle.  The rest of the items used are listed below.

Details for the cards:

  • Card Base:
        Baby Girl: 11" x 4 1/4" scored at 5 1/2"
        Baby Boy: 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" scored at 4 1/4"
  • Layer #1:  White 4" x 5 1/4"
  • Layer #2:  Colored card stock  3 1/4" x 4 1/2"
  • Layer #3: White 3" x 4 1/4"
  • Layer #4: Colored card stock  2 1/4" x 3 1/4"
  • Layer #5: White 2" x 3"
  • Sentiment: Colored card stock 1/4" x 2 1/4"
  • Interior: 4" x 5 1/4"

I invite you to watch the video to see tips on coloring the stamp to create the ombre effect, creating the border on the inside of the card.  There are also some other fun tips on using the large background stamps and holding the white layers of card stock together while stamping the images.

Check out Tammy's beautiful Triple Time thank you card on her Teach it Tuesday YouTube playlist and scroll to the bottom! She has a fun alternative way to place her layers.

A Charming Red, White & Blue Card

Happy Anniversary! Well that is happy 1st anniversary to the weekly Teach it Tuesday with Tammy & Jennie Facebook lives we have been collaborating on.  Can't believe it was a year ago today that we did our first ever Teach it Tuesday, and because it was a few days before the 4th of July we used the color combo of red, white and blue for our cards.  Well, Tammy and I decided it would be fun to go with the same color combination this year too!  After all what color combination when you live in the good ol' USA and the week of the you nation's 249th birthday!

This year I used a combination dies and stamps from three different bundles.  The journey to making this card is unlike any other that I remember.  When I started the process I had a totally different stamp set on my crafting table and it wasn't flowers. LOL I finally decided to use the new Charming Day bundle.

Details for the card:

  • Card base: 11" x 4 1/4"
  • Layer #1: 5 1/2" x 4 1/4"  (die cut largest rectangle)
  • Layer #2: 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" (to die cut out the flower)
  • Interior: White 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" (die cut largest rectangle)
