DIY Two Tone Cardstock Gift Box

A couple of weeks ago late one night I found myself needing a couple of small boxes for some scones I was giving to two co-workers.  It was the end of the school year and the end of my long term substitute job.  As a small group we loved snacking and so I made some of my lemon blueberry scones.  So what did I do at 9:00 pm?  I perused Pinterest of course!  I found this fun box by Holly of Ribbons & Glue.  When I make the boxes I used some of my retired pattern paper but a few days ago I thought, "How fun would it be to stamp my own pattern on the two-tone card stock?"  In my opinion the two-tone card stock worked better because it is a bit sturdier than the pattern paper.

This box uses almost an entire piece of 12" x 12" card stock with very little waste.  And with the way I made this box I was able to use a piece of the scrap for the tag which means even less waste! My kind of project. :)

You can use any 12" x 12" paper; pattern paper, card stock or the two-tone card stock which in terms of weight falls between the regular DSP and the card stock.

Basic supplies for the box:

  • 12" x 12" paper (pattern paper, two-tone card stock or regular card stock)
    • Score at 3" & 9" along one side then turn once and score again at 1", 3 1/2", 6 1/2" and 9"
  • Tear & Tape
  • Scoring/Cutting Tool
More specific details for each box are below the video which gives you tips and tricks for putting this box together.

P.S.  the images below are from a box that I accidently smeared ink on and therefore started over.

Step #1 - Make sure your 12" x 12" is laying with the inside of the box facing up with the 1" score mark at the top and the 9" at the bottom.
Step #2 - Fold up at the 9" score line.
Step #3 - Fold down at the 3" score line.

Scrapbooking with Sketches

During this month's Teach it Tuesday's our Scrapbook Trio wanted to share with you how we used the new scrapbook sketches found on page 28 of the new 2025-2026 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalog.  We also wanted to highlight how you can use other Stampin' Up! product other than the pre-packaged scrapbooking kits to create your memory keeping pages.

I chose to use the beautiful Perennial Lavender pattern paper and the Textured Notes dies to create my layout.

Beautiful Blues Card Kits! Quick, Easy & Elegant Cards

In the past I have shared with you that when I need to get my creativity or stamping mojo back I used card sketches.  There is another tool I use to help me....Stampin' Up! Card Kits!  These are wonderful go to crafts and gifts for those who want to dip their toes into the world of card making or reignite their creative fire.  I enjoy the kits but there are times when I absolutely LOVE the kits.  This kit that Tammy and I are using for our Teach it Tuesday is one that I fell in love with as soon as I saw it in the catalog and then fell even more in love with it when I started using it.  The Beautiful Blues card kit is perfect, especially if you love the color blue!

These cards are both fun and beautiful on their own when you follow the included instructions.  However, if you love to take the card bases, punch out dies, stamps and embellishments and tweak the cards a bit, that is fun too!  In my video below you will find two cards I made using this kit.  One is following the instructions and the second is using the same card base and creating an "alternative".  I hope you find inspiration and joy!

Details:

Card #1 & #2 - Original Designs

White cards with blue flowers and blue card with white flowers follow the provided instructions.

Card #3 - Alternate Design

  • Card base: 11" x 4 1/4" thick white card stock scored at 5 1/2"
  • Layer #1: 4" x 5 1/4"  Night of Navy
  • Layer #2: Kit card base white with blue flowers (cut down to 4" x 5 1/4")
  • Interior:  Flap from coordinating envelope

Impressions Abloom

A fun new bundle has been has just been released as an Online Exclusive. the Impressions Abloom bundle gives you so many options for florals it is impossible to count!  This week Tammy and I used it for our Teach it Tuesday Facebook lives.  She made a fabulous sampler showing all the stamped images, and the different pieces that can be cut using the dies so don't forget to check out her video which is linked below.

Today I decided to play with colors I don't normally gravitate towards; Blackberry Bliss and Bubble Bath with Lemon-Lime Twist as an accent.  I also decided to use a couple of fun techniques; masking and heat embossing.  The layout is inspired by a sketch in the 24/25 catalog.  The two cards below look almost identical, can you spot the difference?  In the video I will share with you what that difference is.

Details for this card:

  • Card base:  8 1/2" x 5 1/2" (standard card) or 11" x 4 1/4" (vertical opening card)
  • Layer #1: 10 1/2" x 1 1/4" (you will cut into (3) 3 1/2" x 1 1/4" strips after embossing)
  • Layer #2: 3" x 1 3/4" (banner die cut)
  • Layer #3: 4 1/2" x 3 1/2" (oval die cut)
  • Inside: 4" x 5 1/4" white

Here are the details:

  • Card base: 11" x 4 1/4" scored at 5 1/2"
  • Layer #1: 5 1/2" x 4 1/4" - used with the 4 1/2" x 3 1/4" arch die
  • Layer #2: 6" x 6" pattern paper - used with the 3 7/8" x 2 5/8" arch die

Wildflower Celebration Scrapbooking Layouts

This month's Teach it Tuesday's Scrapbook Trio shared our ideas for using the Wildflower Celebration kit layouts as springboards for ideas to tell our celebration stories.

I had fun remembering the time I flew to Texas to surprise my younger sister for her 50th birthday.  Not only was my arrival in Texas a surprise but we had a few others planned.  I shared those surprises in my video as I put together layout #3 from the Wildflower Celebrations scrapbooking kit.
